Completion of the Marathi Solar Farm <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A very important project was completed last week. It is a new 500 kW photovoltaic park operated by the Paros Water and Sewerage Authority (DEYA), located in the Marathi area.  <\/p>\n<p>The project was built on a plot of land owned by DEYAP, which was purchased a few years ago for this purpose. It consists of 820 high-efficiency photovoltaic panels, five inverters with a capacity of 100 kW each, special mounting structures to support the equipment, a transformer, power and automation panels, as well as control and monitoring equipment. The design was prepared by a local engineering firm specializing in energy projects.  <\/p>\n<p>This new photovoltaic system was connected to the HEDNO grid in recent days and has already begun generating electricity as normal. Annual production is expected to exceed 700,000 kWh. This energy will meet the needs of several energy-intensive DEYAP facilities in the region, such as wells, water transfer pumping stations, etc., contributing significantly to reducing the company\u2019s energy costs and carbon footprint, as well as to keeping water costs at stable levels.   <\/p>\n<p>The total investment amounted to \u20ac490,000 and was funded exclusively from DEYAP\u2019s own resources. Annual savings, based on current energy prices, are expected to exceed \u20ac170,000. <\/p>\n<p>This facility is the third energy project by DEYAP to become operational. A similar project is already in operation in Krotiri, Parikia, and a smaller one at the Parasporos desalination plant. The total capacity of the renewable energy facilities is 1.1 MW, collectively producing over 1,600,000 kWh of net renewable energy annually and saving more than 410 metric tons of carbon dioxide. As a result, DEYAP has managed to meet more than 25% of the company\u2019s total energy needs with renewable energy! In this way, it contributes to protecting the environment on Paros, not only by planning new environmental projects, building sewer networks and upgrading wastewater treatment facilities, but also by meeting a significant portion of its needs with \u201cgreen\u201d energy!
